Andøya Space and Rheinmetall Nordic AS (RhN) are thrilled to announce the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) to collaborate on enhancing commercial capabilities for both civil and military space operations. This partnership aims to address the increasing security demands in Europe by rapidly deploying satellites and space assets.
The collaboration between Andøya Space and RhN will focus on filling gaps in the satellite and launch-related value chain at Andøya, Norway. The partnership will provide regular commercial launch services and flexible, rapid response capabilities from the European mainland. This strategic partnership will offer Tactical Responsive Launch (TacRL) capacity, ensuring secure and resilient handling of satellites with expedited reaction times.
This partnership is crucial for maintaining the strategic military and civil space infrastructure of Germany, Norway, NATO member states, and other strategic partner countries. The collaboration aims to provide strategic autonomy, increased responsiveness, faster deployment of new capabilities, and operational advantages in the geopolitical climate.

Troels Sandreid, President of Andøya Spaceport, said: “This Letter of Intent marks a significant milestone for Andøya Space. By bringing together both companies expertise and infrastructure, we aim to reinforce Europe’s ability to respond swiftly and securely to emerging civil and military space demands.”
The LOI between ASX and RhN marks a significant step towards completing the space value chain on Andøya, developing state-of-the-art facilities and services on European soil. Both parties are committed to working together to offer these services to customers based on commercial conditions, ensuring the successful execution of TacRL missions and regular launch services.
