Successful flight of «SCOOTER»

Published:

The hypersonic test vehicle SCOOTER HS-1 completed a successful flight from Andøya Space on February 3rd.

SCOOTER HS-1 was a single-stage launch vehicle designed to gain experience in flight testing, operate payload systems under hypersonic flight conditions, and collect sensor data for system validation and model calibration.

“I want to congratulate Hypersonica on a successful mission,” says Kolbjørn Blix, Head of Andøya Space’s suborbital division. “It was a flawless flight and an important first step for Hypersonica in their efforts to strengthen Europe’s access to hypersonic flight technologies.”

SCOOTER launched on February 3rd at 10:14:45 UTC and accelerated to speeds exceeding Mach 6 before safely splashing down in the designated danger area.

“We are very proud to have been selected as a launch site for this mission,” Blix says. “Andøya Space has been used as a starting point for several hypersonic test flights in recent years.”

“Andøya Space’s contribution to the mission included launch services and telemetry downlink, enabling the capture of payload data gathered during the flight,” Blix explains. “Our customer has returned home with a substantial amount of data for their engineers to analyze.”
