Ready for the second flight and qualification mission from Andøya

Isar Aerospace’s second flight and qualification mission is set to lift off from Andøya in the coming days, marking another key step toward strengthening Europe’s independent access to space. With proven expertise and a fully equipped range, Andøya Space will support the launch with comprehensive safety, monitoring, and operational services.

The second flight and qualification mission of Isar Aerospace’s launch vehicle, Spectrum, is set to launch in the upcoming days from Andøya. This marks a significant milestone for the European space sector.

“Andøya Space is ready to support Isar Aerospace’s launch activities and assure our responsibilities to safeguard people, property and environment, in line with our license requirements”, says Troels Sandreid, President & Accountable Manager of Andøya Spaceport .“Following Isar Aerospace’s first successful test flight from the our new spaceport in March last year, Andøya Space has continued to improve our operations and safety procedures, and we are looking forward to supporting Isar Aerospace in their second flight and qualification mission”.

Director of Launch Operations, Yngve Wiik, explains: Our responsibilities includes overall safety and security oversight, providing telemetry and radar coverage, weather and wind monitoring, range clearance, technical support and final countdown”.

“It is always exciting when a launch is about to take place, but our operational team has the necessary experience and control to assure tight and professional support for this mission, and guarantee that the preparations and launch are carried out within safe and secure conditions”, says Wiik.

The growing significance of space means that the need for launch capacity has never been greater.

“Andøya Space has the location, infrastructure, and expertise that make us a key provider of spaceport services”, says Sandreid. “For Norway, this is important because we can launch our own satellites without having to travel to other parts of the world, and we can contribute with capacity that our partners and allies need. This also fills a gap for Europe, which is currently lacking launch capacity.”

Mission updates

Those interested in the qualification mission can follow updates issued from Isar Aerospace.

“This is Isar Aerospace’s launch, and they will publish status updates from the launch campaign on their website, isaraerospace.com,” Sandreid says. “There will also be a livestream available. You’ll find the necessary links and details on Isar Aerospace’s website.”
