In connection with the coming launch period for Isar Aerospace’s launch vehicle Spectrum, Andøya Space has submitted a request to the police for assistance in clearing the maritime safety zones.
Andøya Space, in cooperation with Isar Aerospace, is preparing a new launch attempt. The launch period runs from Wednesday, April 8, through Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Related to the attempt, Andøya Space has requested assistance from Nordland Police District to clear the designated maritime safety zones. The police have responded by issuing a maritime prohibition zone within the previously announced safety areas.

The reason for the request is the previous attempt in March 2026. At that time, the launch attempt was delayed after several fishing vessels were present within the maritime safety zone. This caused delays that ultimately forced Isar Aerospace to abort the launch attempt.
“Safety is always our top priority. Our role is to facilitate the safe execution of space activities in close cooperation with authorities, customers, and affected stakeholders,” says Ketil Olsen, CEO of Andøya Space.
“We want a good, predictable, and long-term solution for launches, and at the same time we cannot risk repeated aborted launch attempts due to uncleared safety zones. It is very unfortunate that we now have to take this step,” he says.
“Repeated aborted launch attempts due to uncleared safety zones will affect all of us, as Andøya Space may be forced to continue reserving ocean areas in order to carry out our activities. Andøya Space and the fisheries are two lawful industries that should and must be able to coexist with mutual respect. Our shared intention is to move one step forward and ensure good and sustainable coexistence.”
