Working at Andøya Space

Per Kristian – Range Safety Officer

Per Kristian works as Range Safety Officer and is a part of the Launch Control team that makes sure it’s safe to launch rockets.

“The variation and all the different people we meet is one of the best things about this job”, says Per Kristian. “I get to work with scientists that launch rockets from Oksebåsen, technology testing, and students building their own rockets. Very few days are the same, and we constantly get new exciting challenges.”

CarolinFinancial Controller

Carolin works as a Financial Controller and is a part of the team that works with finance and economics in Andøya Space.

“The best thing about Andøya Space is all of the people working here. It’s a great and international team of nice colleagues, with exciting and varied backgrounds”, says Carolin. “We have lots of things happening all the time, and there is always something new and interesting to learn. The best thing for me is that I have the opportunity to be a part of an incredible exciting journey within space, without having to be an actual rocket engineer”.

Hari – Staff Engineer

Hari works in the telemetry and radar team, and makes the impossible possible by downloading the important science data from the rockets.

“The best thing is definitely the environment and people here”, says Hari. “They are so dedicated and passionate about what they do and that makes me feel good to be part of the team.”

Living and working in Andøy

Andøy is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, offering beautiful and varied terrain for hiking and skiing. How about a walk along one of Norway’s longest beaches?

Did you know that Andøy is home to both a surf club, a kayaking club, and a nine‑hole golf course? In addition, there are football clubs, a handball club, gymnastics, and a climbing club with an indoor climbing wall. The swimming pool is open to the public three days a week. For those interested in hunting and fishing, Andøya offers many great areas, and it is possible to take the hunter’s license course and join the local hunting and fishing association

The municipality has a well-developed cultural scene with concerts and performances. The School of Arts offers a wide range of activities for those interested in music, and every year the youth festival “Rock Mot Rus” is held. You can join both a choir and a theater club, the latter being especially popular among children and young people.

In Andenes, the municipal centre, there is an airport with flights to Tromsø and Bodø, and during the summer there is also a direct route to Oslo.
